BBC star Mishal Husain furiously hits back at Meghan Markle

During her 2022 Netflix ‘docu-series’ with Prince Harry, the Duchess of Sussex launched a barrage of revelations at the Royal Family. Among those hit by the fallout was Mishal Husain.

In a candid revelation during their Netflix series, Meghan Markle criticized the 2017 BBC engagement interview conducted by Mishal Husain. The Duchess of Sussex described the interview as an “orchestrated reality show” and expressed dissatisfaction with Mishal’s perceived lack of warmth and empathy.

Meghan stated, “The chat was like a ‘reality show,’ and Mishal was not empathetic enough and not warm enough.” Her words resonated with viewers, sparking a heated debate about media authenticity.

Mishal Husain, who conducted the interview, responded in the August issue of Saga magazine: “When the Duchess of Sussex said that my engagement interview with her and Harry was an ‘orchestrated reality show,’ I didn’t know what to make of it. They seemed to have thought through what their new lives would be like and what marriage would mean for her life in particular. There was nothing that pointed to what would happen. It was two people who were full of joy in each other and life.”

Meghan’s claim that the questions were rehearsed also raised eyebrows. She revealed, “Yeah. But then also like ‘and then there’ll be a moment when they’ll ask to see the ring.’ My point is we weren’t allowed to tell our story because they didn’t want.” Harry supported her, emphasizing, “We’ve never been allowed to tell our story… that’s the consistency.”

Despite the media scrutiny, the couple’s love prevailed. Just five months after the interview, Meghan and Harry—now parents of two—tied the knot in Windsor on May 19, 2018, with many royals and celebrity friends in attendance.

The clash between Meghan, Mishal, and the media sheds light on the challenges faced by public figures during pivotal moments. It underscores the delicate balance between authenticity and media expectations, leaving us to ponder the complexities of royal life and the power of storytelling.
