The Kansas City Chiefs have now beaten the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl twice in the past five years.

Nonetheless, coach Andy Reid knows they’re not going to go away any time soon, especially with Brock Purdy at the helm.

Recently, the legendary head coach praised the former Mr. Irrelevant, stating that the Niners are going to be quite dangerous for as long as a guy like Kyle Shanahan is calling the shots and Purdy is out there (via Dave Lombardi).

“I know (Shanahan) has got a great young quarterback, and him with a great young quarterback is deadly,” Reid said.

Purdy was the most polarizing quarterback in the league last season.

Some think of him as a system quarterback and the weakest link in their offense.

Others praise him for executing the system at a high level and believe he shouldn’t be pointed out for his draft position or his stellar teammates.

Perhaps, the truth is somewhere in between.

Purdy’s play cost the Niners a couple of games in the regular season, but he put the team on his shoulders to get the job done in the postseason.

Also, it’s not like Purdy was the one who made the call to get the ball first in overtime; that was all on his head coach.

Now, the jury will continue to be out on the Iowa State product, and he’ll have another season to prove that he’s worthy of a big and long-term contract with the organization.
